The word “ergonomic” has become rather trendy in the last 10 years. It is used to describe just about everything: chairs, computer equipment, garden tools, clothing, handles … I could go on and on. In the deluge of ergonomic claims, I nearly lost it when I heard an advertisement about ergonomic panty liners! Now do we need to go over the definition of “ergonomics”?!
I won’t bore you with the Greek origin of the word or its “pure” definition, but let’s all agree on one thing. To call something ergonomic, two components must be involved: people and an activity. Modifying, adapting or designing an activity or its tool to fit people: now that’s ergonomics!
The abuse of nomenclature aside, there are a lot of good ergonomic products out there for all kinds of daily activities. So follow the blog and tell me what you think about them.
